Sometimes Facebook may reject perfectly normal ads. For example, it may consider it as a promo for “adult” products. If you don’t want moderators to block your advertising account, read the article to the end.

What is the quality of a Facebook account

Facebook tries to keep its users safe from false and potentially malicious information. That’s why it analyses and evaluates the ads you run from your business manager. But, unfortunately, not always correctly. In my practice, there have been more than once cases when there was an undeserved blocking of a Facebook advertising account:

- dancing schools with nude body parts in the photos;
- car loans – Facebook has special requirements for adverts in this area;
- placement of completely different categories of goods on different sites – if, for example, an entrepreneur deals with clothes, but started advertising his own business, but with bicycles.

In short, Facebook monitors what you promote and assigns a certain “reputation” to your account. If you regularly break the rules, you’ll end up on Blacklist. Ads will spin off worse. And then they may even block your advertising account for good.

What is considered a violation and why Facebook blocks advertising accounts:

- ignoring community norms;
- infringement of intellectual property rights;
- clickbait adverts;
- mass reposting;
- deleted events;
- posting jobs with false information or descriptions that could be considered fraudulent;
- information that does not correspond to reality – but this is more for news.

Facebook also takes into account people’s reactions to adverts: negative feedback, complaints, hiding adverts too often.

But, as I wrote above, the system has its own concept of such violations. Therefore, I recommend that you regularly check the quality of your Facebook account. Otherwise, it may turn out that your adverts have not been shown for a long time, and you, as an advertiser, are on a bad account. This is especially important to keep an eye on if you’re a digital specialist and running dozens of social media campaigns at the same time.

Fortunately, Facebook introduced an update a couple of months ago that lets you know how the social network rates your account. It allows you to quickly check if you’ve violated the rules of advertising.

Sometimes Facebook may reject perfectly normal ads. For example, it may consider it as a promo for “adult” products. If you don’t want moderators to block your advertising account, read the article to the end.

6. If there is such a problem, click on the appropriate account. By the way, if the ad stops, you get a comment on why the ad is restricted.
7. If Facebook has blocked an advertising account, the notification will be highlighted in red:

What to do if you have a low quality advertising account

In the same section, you can correct the ad or write an appeal to have the rejected advert allowed. If you are sure that the moderators blocked a Facebook ad account unreasonably, you can request a review:

Here you can also see a summary of ads that have been violated. Or you can see the adverts that are currently under manual review – if you have requested it before. You can also see which ones have been renewed or left unchanged as a result, i.e. the moderator looked at the advert but still did not approve it.

By hovering over the name of the offence, you can read in detail what the offence is about.

When filing an appeal, you must clearly state that the advertisement was blocked unreasonably. For example, in order to allow an advert for dancing, you need to refer to the fact that the open back is an element of the tango costume, etc. And then replace the photo, so that the naked parts of the body there did not appear. But it’s better not to break the rules initially, rather than correct the advert or send it for verification. So below are a few tips on how not to get banned.

How to avoid ban by Facebook

1. Do not use personal characteristics – mentioning race, gender, etc. Do not start your adverts with the phrase “Are you…?”
2. Do not use photos with ambiguous poses or semi-nudity.
3. Carefully proofread adverts for errors. And, of course, do not use mat 😉
4. Describe the product honestly and don’t exaggerate its benefits. Facebook will not miss adverts along the lines of “Pay for the service and you’ll be rich in a month”.
5. Check where the ad leads. The system will reject it if the link is broken or leads to a non-existent page.
6. Do not create provocative adverts or those that may offend someone – even if it is not your target audience. If such an advert does pass moderation, people will complain about it. And that will eventually lead to blocking anyway.
7. Advertise one site in one ad cabinet. If you advertise several sites at the same time, there is a risk of being audited or banned by a bot, which can be removed through support.
8. Make a separate Business Manager for each site, otherwise if for some reason an advert or an advertising cabinet is blocked, it can lead to blocking of the whole Business Manager with all advertising cabinets in it.

In conclusion, I would like to once again urge you to regularly monitor the quality of the accounts you run. If a few of them get blocked, it will affect your reputation in general and will increase the chances that even normal adverts will be rejected periodically. After all, updates are rolled out daily, and it’s hard to predict the limitations. And here’s another useful link to check the restrictions.
